The Five Year Anniversary of Roger Bryan’s Blog – RCBryan.com

So this is a little odd. I’m not quite sure what it is about today that made me check, but I came to realize that it is five years ago almost to the week that I started my first blog, which set me down a path over the last five years that I could’ve never imagined or plan for. When I first started my blog, it was really just a place to post pictures about recipes that I cooked, books that I read, people that I met, and ideas that I had. It ended up becoming so much more. My exploits as a young entrepreneur led my blog to become the number one website for business consulting on the Internet for many years.

As I sit here today thinking about what’s happened in the last five years, both good and bad decisions that I’ve made, the risks that I’ve taken, the opportunities that I’ve had and the success that I’ve been blessed with, I think about all of the things I did wrong and all of the times I got lucky and it’s somewhat astonishing.

Today I was working with my team on the next version of my website, which is a personal branding template that was designed by my new business partner. The goal of the website is to build your personal brand to show the relationships that you have, the experience that you have, and the credibility and the accomplishments that you have. And during the design process, so many members of my team are so astonished by some of the elements of the site; and I guess to them it’s unbelievable to be working with someone that’s met the people that I’ve met and done the things that I’ve done; and I almost feel like I had started to take it for granted. The section on my website where you list who you are (and I don’t really think of it as my core essence), but when I write there that I’m a serial entrepreneur, Internet marketer, business development coach and author and speaker, I have to pause for a minute and look at those words and really think about them.

Writing down the serial entrepreneur part is something that I don’t think I would have ever dreamed of being. Just five years ago, I wasn’t. I was struggling with my first startup; I was learning to work with partners, in many ways unsuccessfully by picking the wrong ones. But I was willing to commit 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year to building a business, establishing relationships and growing both internally and externally of myself. Also, learning the tricks of the trade, learning how to network, market, advertise, how to generate sales, how to manage clients and most importantly, how to manage staff. I don’t know if I ever knew what this simple website, this simple blog, would become, and now sitting here five years later, I want to take this quick moment to look back so I can acknowledge everything that went into getting here today and be grateful and continue on my path forward.

I call myself an Internet marketer, I am friends with, and hang out with, some of the most successful Internet marketers in the world. And to be honest, that basically happened by accident. From one event, to one drink, to one meeting, to one opportunity, to five years later, I really think about it and I’m kind of baffled by how all of this happened. Internet marketing to me really is science. It’s almost an art form. I’ve been able to do some amazing things on the Internet, build businesses, create jobs, and earn more money than I ever thought possible, and even today, publish books and create a following of people that actually want to listen to what I’m saying. Having the esteem and respect of so many people that I idolized for so many years, and being able to do the amazing things I’ve done with raising money for nonprofits and helping those that need help most, and most importantly, building up my business that most people would only dream about has been incredibly rewarding.
